Companion notes

Hermes v0.14 ships native X browsing via XAI OAuth, killing the need for the $200/mo X API or $19/mo unofficial scraper.

## The X Integration Is the Headline Version 0.14 — branded the "Foundation Release" — adds XAI OAuth support, so your agent browses X directly through your account. No API keys, no tokens, no per-call fees. You log in once via OAuth and both regular Grok search and Super Grok come bundled with the plan you already pay for. The creators are blunt: Grok is "not the smartest servant on the books," but for live news and post-level context the "natural synergy with X" is the only game in town.

## Cost Math Grok access requires X Premium Plus (note the plus), not the base Premium tier. Premium Plus runs about $30 a month. The creator compares that favorably to "X APIs now can cost up to $200 per month or even the unofficial ones" at $19. If you only need occasional post fetches, a curl scrape still works — but it's "very limited."

## Native Windows, Mac Still Wins Old Hermes-on-Windows ran through WSL, which the host calls "not the greatest. It's not local." v0.14 ships native Windows support. Linux and Windows builds of the computer use feature (controlling your desktop apps, demoed previously on Mac) are promised "in the next few weeks." Until then, "Mac is still probably the best way to use everything."

## Smaller But Useful Additions - Microsoft Teams gets end-to-end support. - A new debloat command lets you strip unused components like camel flock from your install. - One-hour cloud sessions are available for support. - Video generation now connects to a broader tool list including Runway and Pixiv, though the creator says it's "still not the best."

## Upgrade Path Run Hermes update in the console — it's a free upgrade. The team teases more X-surface tools (bookmarks, news aggregation) coming soon, tied to the same OAuth login.
